What Makes Clean Crawls Different: Part IV

When you choose to work with Clean Crawls, you are choosing a company that cares about you. In everything we do, we hold ourselves to the highest level of faith, quality, and service for you.

We do this by taking the time to develop a relationship with you so that we can truly understand the best way we can go about helping you. That is a promise that I make to you because we vow to always do what is right by the customer and by one another.

What is right is rarely easy, and it often means sacrifice on our part. A couple years ago we heard about a house that was flooded by the river where a single mother and her children lived. She was the kind of person who gave everything she had to the community, even when she had nearly nothing. Free of charge we went in there, took care of her crawl space, and everything else we could.

It was a wonderful to help her out and we were really excited about that opportunity. We helped her because that was the right thing to do. It is an easy choice for me to sacrifice Clean Crawl’s bottom line in order to help anyone who sacrifices that much for others and does not have much for themselves.

Over the 16 years that we have been in business there are many stories about the people we have helped, and the lives that we have changed. Clean Crawls helps these people because that is an integral part of our Company and our vision statement, “Excellence in Serving People.”

We have maintained giving, and one of the big ones has been E3 Worldwide which is an organization that helps villages in Malawi, Africa.

Educate, empower and employ is what the E3 stands for. This non-profit teaches the people of Malawi how to care for themselves and how to take care of others.

This is incredibly important to me because to keep coming in there and giving and giving and giving has never solved anything when you see these communities in Africa devastated by “relief.” If we can teach the people of Malawi how to take care of themselves, that produces great fruit.

We have seen a lot come out of that. A lot of villages that surround the areas where we have worked are now coming to learn what the villages we have taught are doing differently because they are proving highly successful with it.

Clean Crawls does a lot of positive things in addition to that. Every time we see an opportunity we try our best to take advantage of it through our associations and through our local community. Whatever way we hear about those kinds of stories—when there is an opportunity to help out, we try to.

These values come from our mission statement. The premise for the mission statement has always been there in my head and heart. When I wrote it, I worked really hard for about two and a half months, spending three hours a week working on putting it together.

I wanted to get it down in writing so that my employees would be able to focus on those values well enough and understand them well enough to be able to achieve our mission. I believe our bottom line should always be achieving what that mission statement says and believing in it.

Looking for a company you can trust, that will do what they say they are going to do, is vitally important when you are comparing bids. You can go and see experiences from other customers and what they have gone through.

I can tell you, for most people, this is something that they would like to have completed in one day and be done with it. Most of the services that we provide are because we are thinking about the client. We want to make sure that you do not have to take more time off work to have more things done. We like to give that immediate gratification if we can.

I think that the number of years a company has been in business is very helpful. That being said, a new startup company could do it, but they do not have a lot of experience under their belts, and they do not have processes and systems to make sure that you are going to be properly taken care of. Another thing to think about when you are looking at a company is, how long are they going to take to do the job?

If you have to take time off work to be home and they are telling you it can be done in one day, you do not want to find out that you have had to spend an additional four or five days coming home to take care of your crawl space. If you went with a cheaper bid and now it is taking multiple days, how much money have you lost because your precious time (and possibly wages) has been compromised?

For example, some crawl space retrofit companies and even new construction builders will simply use twine around the access door so that a homeowner or an inspector who peeks their head into the crawl space will think that there is twine all throughout the crawl, when in reality only that small area that is visible has the twine. You are going to have to spend a lot more money to fix the problems that are caused by a poor installation.

All the way around from our pest technicians, our crews, to our customer service representatives, they all are going to know if something is not being done correctly or if something is not going to pass an inspection. In addition, if any problem occurs then they will know that there is something we have to do to address that problem.

Other companies may or may not acknowledge those things. They might say things such as, “It is not my problem” or, “It is not something we deal with.” This is a very deceptive practice that Clean Crawls will not tolerate. We have enough crossover between weatherization and pest control now that we feel like we can take care of our customers at a level far superior to what other companies will do.

Basically, it is taking care of customers in a way that we would want to be taken care of at our own homes—including improvements in health, comfort, and financial well-being.
