Here's an installation video of what we use for all of our spray foam jobs - Johns Manville Corbond III Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation.
Why Choose Spray Foam Insulation?
Spray foam insulation has many advantages over more traditional insulation material:
Insulation density: spray foam has the highest R-value per inch of any insulation available. A little bit goes a long way.
Seals air gaps: the Department of Energy says an average home has air gaps equivalent to a two-foot-square hole. That’s like leaving a bathroom window open 24/7/365. Spray foam seals those air gaps saving you money on top of its insulating value.
Moisture barrier: spray foam is non-permeable, so no water can pass through it, keeping your space free of moisture build-up, mold, mildew and rot.
Rodent deterrent: while the only guarantee of a rodent-free house is ongoing pest control service, spray foam makes it less likely you’ll be invaded by rodents. Where fiber glass insulation is appealing to them as nesting material, spray foam is a hard, unwelcoming substance for them.
Flash-And-Batt: The Cost-Saving Approach to Spray Foam
Depending on the situation, our inspection staff may recommend a hybrid approach designed to save you money.
‘Flash’ the space first with spray foam to provide an air seal, moisture barrier and rodent deterrent.
‘Batt’ to complete the insulation to the desired R-value with less expensive material like fiber glass or cellulose.
This can give you the best of both worlds: all the benefits of spray foam without all the cost. Give us a call or fill out a contact form and we’ll do a free inspection and give you a recommendation and a free quote.
Why Not Always Choose Spray Foam Insulation?
Spray foam insulation is more expensive than other insulation materials like fiberglass or cellulose, so if you don’t need the advantages of insulating density, air sealing, moisture barrier or rodent deterrent, then spray foam insulation may not be the best choice.
Don’t Just Take Our Word For It…
Today, I had Clean Crawls spray foam/insulate the entire underside of my floors. Normally, when I have a fire in my wood stove, with a fan blowing across it towards my bedroom, the maximum temperature I could attain in the bedroom was 64 degrees.
With a moderate fire and no blower, I now have a temperature of 69 degrees, headed toward 70!! What a difference!!
This is only the first of many comparisons I will make over the next few days. I also have noticed there the kitchen floor no longer sounds hollow and no more squeeks when I walk on it. I am very impressed and shall continue to send you updates.
Thanks Clean Crawls!!
